Aim
Protect your gold whilst collecting as much gold as possible from the other castles
How to Play
On the word go, the children must build a human castle over and around their gold. The gold must be on the floor at all times. No part of the children must be touching the gold
-
At the same time, any number of children from each group can take a throw down disc, travel to another human castle, place the throw down disc down beside the human castle and attempt to collect a piece of gold from inside
-
Children must have at least one point of contact with their throw down disc at all times
-
Children in the human castle can not move to deliberately block any child attempting to collect a ball from inside their castle
-
Once a child collects a ball they must take it back to their human castle and place it inside
-
They then tag another group member to collect a piece of gold and they become part of their group’s human castle
-
The Playgame is complete after five minutes. Which group has the most gold?

Make it possible for children to tag other children from other groups whilst running between human castles. If a child is tagged they must give over their gold and the tagger can place it inside their human castle
*
Create a ring of five throw down discs around each human castle which is one metre wider than the human castle. Ask children to travel in pairs to the human castles. Only one child at a time can reach into a human castle but neither child can place their feet inside the ring of throw down discs. Children can hold on to their partner to reach further inside the castle. They do not need to take a throw down disc with them to be in contact with when reaching inside the human castle -
Tie the legs together of a child raiding the human castle using a sash - to increase the scale of the problem
*
Ask all children in the human castle to be on their knees - to restrict the space*
Place a ring of throw down discs around each human castle, half a metre wider than the human castle. Specify that children cannot place a body part on the floor inside this ring except on their one throw down disc - to restrict resources -
Place a bean bag on the head of a child. Ask them to play without it falling off - to encourage a beneficial action
*
Introduce a second throw down disc for a child raiding a human castle. They can place both throw down discs wherever they like but must be touching both at all times - to encourage a beneficial action*
Specify that it must only be a child's feet that are making contact with the throw down disc - to reduce the decisions that need to be made -
How did you manage to stay balanced whilst reaching into the human castle?
*
How did you change your position to reach further whilst staying balanced? -
I can move my centre of gravity to help me stay balanced
*
I can tell someone calmly when they are in my personal space*
I can evaluate the success of different strategies and tactics*
I can evaluate and change my movements
